How I got here

I have always been the person people turn to when they need someone to listen. Whether friends, family, or peers, I naturally offer empathy, understanding, and support, and I quickly realized how much I value helping others navigate life’s challenges. Over time, this desire to guide and empower others led me to counseling as a career.

The journey begins

I am in my final semester of completing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Catawba College. My interest in counseling grew as I noticed how trauma, grief, and family dynamics influence the way people think, feel, and behave. Seeing how therapy can help individuals gain clarity, reframe thinking, and create meaningful change reinforced my passion for this work and shaped my approach as a counselor.

My training field

During my practicum, I have had the privilege of working with clients navigating a range of challenges, including grief, trauma, family conflict, and life transitions. I have witnessed how deeply these experiences affect emotional well-being and relationships, and I have seen the transformative impact of counseling. Supporting clients in recognizing their strengths and developing coping strategies has strengthened my commitment to helping individuals achieve personal growth and resilience.

My approach to counseling

I see counseling as a collaborative journey. Clients guide the path based on their experiences and goals, and I walk alongside them, providing support, insight, and encouragement. I am inspired by watching clients uncover new perspectives, overcome obstacles, and gain confidence in themselves. Being part of that process is what drives me and gives purpose to my work as a counselor.
